Today you will be learning about a Dutch graphic artist from the twentieth century. His work is built on mathematical theory, including Penrose Stairs and tessellations. Although not a contemporary of Darwin, I think you will see why I have chosen him as we finish our work on Darwin. I hope you will have a lot of fun with this lesson as there are lots of optional illusions to trick your brain with before having a go at creating your own Darwin-esque tessellations. Watch the video and then complete the task. There are also two clever little animations to look at and some squared paper to download if you need it. Once you have watched the lesson, have a go yourself using one of these tutorials. The fish is my favourite.
