Top Tips for supporting your child whilst learning remotely
Distance learning presents us all with formidable challenges. We are all learning how to do things differently for a while and trying to keep our families safe in the process.
Here are some ways in which you can make the most out of remote learning, to support your child's future...
1) Establish a routine
This is a very important part of remote learning and it is imperative to establish good habits from the start. We appreciate that getting your child motivated for there school day whilst having all the comfort of home, can be challenging and this is the biggest obstacle that we have had raised to us by parents.
However, if children are up, dressed and prepared for the day this makes a huge difference to their productivity. This does not mean to say that you can't be flexible, but breaking your day into chunks of predictable segments, will help children know when to work and when to have a break. Take a look at our suggested timetable for more information.
2) How are you both feeling?
Having children at home and possibly working from home yourself, can be challenging. It is important to talk about how you are both feeling and if your child has anything they wish to share, we will be holding a zoom check-in at 12pm every day, so that we can keep in touch and share how things are going.
3) READ, READ AND READ AGAIN
We cannot stress the benefits of reading enough and with all the tasks that the children are set, it can be something that falls behind. You can hear your child read, read with them or even to them, all of these types of reading will benefit them. Even if you only have 15 minutes spare, children should be reading EVERYDAY!
4) Don't worry! Speak to us!
We are all in this together- as cheesy as it sounds! If you are finding it difficult to support your child in their remote learning or something isn't going to plan that day, do not worry! This is such an unprecedented time and we are both here to help you in any way we can. Please just send us an email and we will get back to you as promptly as we can.
