Design and Technology Statement of Intent
Our intention in teaching Design and Technology is for all children:
- to gain the appropriate subject knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum
- to learn how to safely use tools
- to learn to think creatively to solve problems individually and as members of a team
- to develop and use creativity and imagination
- to develop a positive mindset and demonstrate resilience when exploring and reviewing their own skills
- to design and make products for a defined purpose
- to have opportunities to reflect upon and evaluate past and present design technology
- to learn about and be inspired by engineers, designers, chefs and architects
- to create a range of structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food products with a real life purpose
