This term we will be using the book ' The Queens Knickers' by Nicholas Allen to help us create our own stories about Kings and Queens. The children will be writing their own fairytales and then letters. We are hoping to send our letters to the Queen.
Resources we use in class:
Sound mats (based on their phonics level) -
Voice recorders (this allows children to verbalise what they are going to write and helps them remember whilst working hard at sounding out) -
Lollipop sticks for finger spaces Pictures of b and d

Our aim is to promote children with a love for reading.
In year one we develop this through a variety of different ways. The children use a model text for English which they learn by heart, Mrs Wraight reads a class book to them everyday after lunch for 15 minutes and they have a weekly library session. This is in addition to guided reading sessions and 1:1 reading with their book band level book.
