Welcome to Spring Term 1. This term our topic is

Fairy Tales!

We will be starting the term by learning about Jack and the Beanstalk.

In Maths, we will be focusing on numbers, specifically counting and recognition, for the first half of the term. We have introduced a games area in our classroom where the children can develop these skills whilst playing games.

Then we will focus on size, weight and capacity for the second half of the term.

Why haven't you heard? The Gruffalo has been spotted in Ashford! When we heard the news we went straight outside to see if we could find any evidence to suggest he has visited our school, look what we found...

In RE this term our topic will be 'Getting to know Jesus.'

The children will be learning to;

• that Jesus is God the Father’s Son

• appreciate friendship with Jesus

• know that Jesus helps us to choose the good.

• that Jesus cured people who were ill.

We will be sending home a prayer book this term, please can you write a prayer with your child that we can say together on the Monday. Thank you!

Thank you to all those that attended the Curriculum and Phonics Presentation on Thursday. Please find the presentation below for future reference. As always, any questions please feel free to email me or catch me at the end of the day.

General Reminders

  • Books will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday but please ensure your child brings their book and book wallets everyday so we can hear them read too. If there is no comment in the reading record the book will not be changed.
  • Library books will be changed on a Tuesday. Please send books back so that your child can bring home a new one.
  • PE is on a Monday afternoon - can I please remind parents that all items of clothing need to be labelled to avoid any confusion.
  • Homework is sent home on a Thursday and needs to be back in by the Tuesday.

Items to send in:

*Wellies are a must! We are outside a lot in rain or shine and want children to be able to enjoy themselves without getting wet feet. If your child has waterproofs then please send these in too.

For example...

*A messy/painting top. We find that an adult size t-shirt covers the uniform and helps children to enjoy getting messy whilst protecting the uniform.
