Daily Reading- 02.06.2020

Most of you will remember Epic! I would love you to engage in some reading from this website today- I think it is a really fun way for you to read, and I can see what you are all reading...

Also, below is one of your '60 Second Reads'- think about what I said before! If you read for 20 minutes each day in lots of different ways, think of all the different words and vocabulary you will learn...

Collective Discussions- 02.06.2020

Todays 'Collective Discussion' is very topical and the topic is:

One day, will computers

replace teachers?

Really have a think about this and, in your 'Remote Learning' books, get the views of all the people in your household. You could even print off the picture above and mindmap your thoughts. I will be intrigued to see what you come up with...

Subtract 3-digit numbers

For the next couple of days, we are going to be focusing back on our subtraction work to really ensure you have mastered this skill. Click on the image above which will take you to the video of what we are going to be looking at and learning about today. It shows you how we subtract through a concrete, picture and an abstract method (this is something you might be able to chat to your parents about)...
Then, once you have watched the video, have a try of the learning tasks below to practise these skills. Good luck Eagles!

Remember, after you have finished your learning, you can mark your answers in a different coloured pen to see how you got on...

Persuasive Writing- Designing your own attraction based around a book...

Watch the advert for the tour again by clicking the link above. Tell a parent or think for yourself how this was persuasive yesterday? What methods of persuasion can you see? There are other methods you can use to persuade- try to think about these examples and how you would persuade the different people in these examples differently...

Your parents that you have done such fantastic 'Remote Learning' today that you need to be rewarded...

Mr Burchett that, when you come back to school, we should do more of your favourite subject...

A letter to Boris Johnson asking for a public holiday to mark the 'end of lockdown'

An email to the council asking them to build a theme park about the works of your favourite author...

There are some other authors though or screen works who have had magical worlds created, or places, to replicate their books. Have a look at these by clicking the images...

This week, I want you to think about different types of persuasion and ways we can persuade so that it prepares you for when we next learn about persuasive texts. By the end of day, I would like you to have completed one tasks below:

1) Create an advert about your authors attraction which you are going to create. What will it include in it? What will be so special about it? What would make people want to go there? If you are doing this one, you are trying to recreate the advert as best you can, but you might need some help from your parents...

2) Write a short script about what your advert would include. What would you say if you were designing the advert?

3) Tell me which author you have chosen and why you have chosen to create their world. What do you think it would look like?

There are endless possibilities with this task- you could just write it in your 'Remote Learning' book or you could film yourself and send it over to me- it would be lovely to see some of you! We will look at other persuasive media forms Wednesday, Thursday and Friday too....

The resources below should help you with this once again. I have thrown in a few others too for you to have a look at for when we think about persuasion. Good luck!

RE Learning- 02.06.2020

Begin to understand what being a Christian involves

Click the image above to discover a little bit more about 'what it means to be a Christian.' Read all of the information and the five people's views on what it means to be a Christian. In your 'Remote Learning' book, can you create a small piece of writing, just like the people in the text with your picture, about what it means to be a Christian to you?

After looking at this, click the image below to watch another clip:

Ask your child before they watch the clip to think about Nathan’s wish to go to Jerusalem one day.

While they are watching, the children must choose four things that they think Nathan might do, places to visit and so on, if he was lucky enough to go to Jerusalem as a pilgrim.

When the children have seen the clip, they can list the four places they would choose, say what Nathan might think about, remember or learn by going there, and suggest what Lara might tell him about the four places.
