Please note, White Rose are no longer allowing free access to their worksheets. They have joined with the BBC who should be publishing an activity linked to the White Rose content for the week. This may be a printable sheet or an online activity. Please use the BBC site in conjunction with White Rose.

Welcome to the Panda class page. Here you will find all the information you need, to keep updated with everything we are learning about in year 2.
This term, our topic is:
Home Learning: Week beginning 30th March.
Maths and English tasks are included for the week. I have also attached the 5 DT lessons that we were going to do to design our own Super Hero Fruit/Vegetable T-Shirt.
Home Learning Activities
Week Beginning 23/3/2020
I have added some tasks for the children to work on next week. I would have expected the English tasks to take the whole week - the children should only write for around 30 minutes at a time.
Please make sure your child remembers to use punctuation and spells the words on the Year 2 spelling lists correctly.
Handwriting continues to be an important focus.
Maths activities work best in short bursts.
White Rose Maths have uploaded some activities for you to use at home. This is the scheme we follow at school. Our current focus was fractions, our next focus would be Measures.
I have attached some time activities, these real life maths skills are best when they are constantly revisited, the home setting is a great place for time and money tasks in relevant contexts.
Keep a track of your diet using the eat well plate guide. Are you eating a variety of foods?
Use your food diary to track the journey of your food to your plate. Can you locate the continent and country that your food has come from on the world map?
Get moving! Joe Wicks is hosting a daily PE lesson at 9am from Monday for children. Why not join him?
Reading Challenge - prepare a book review for any books you read. E-mail me a photo of your work and I will post it here for your friends to see. What will be the Panda's favourite book?
Keep well everyone!
I have noticed a great improvement in the children's spelling of the Common Exception Words since sending them home for you, thank you for your support.
Please see the document for information of all of the spelling rules I have taught so far and previous rules from year 1 for your information. You may like to check that your child applies these patterns by testing them on some of the suggested words.
You may like to have a look at the following documents to prepare your child for the End of Key Stage Assessments in May.
The following folder has several short Maths and English Tasks for you to work through with your child. These involve many of the concepts we have covered already this year and are especially useful for Mental Maths and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar activities. We would spend 15-20 minutes per day on activities such as these.
If you would like to get in touch with any questions or queries, please do so here. Thank you.
Thank you all for your support in our Lenten Fundraiser.
We have looked at the role of Doctors, Nurses, Nutritionists and Chemists in supporting Health and Wellbeing.
9th September Meet the Teacher
8th and 10th October Parents Evenings
18th October - Inset Day
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday.
Please ensure your child has their kit in school on these days.
It is always useful to provide appropriate clothing at this time of year should we go outside for activities.
Please spend some time looking at words using these spelling patters;
* g making a j sound
* le/al/el endings
* tion endings
There is a powerpoint of these available on this page.
Information about Year 2:
Reading books: The children's books will be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. However, children will still need to bring their reading books in everyday.
Homework: The children will be set homework every week. Homework is given to the children on a Thursday and is due back into school on a Tuesday.
In addition, the children will receive spellings on a Friday and will need to learn them ready for the following week. Spellings are assessed in a variety of ways, including games, carpet activities and in dictation exercises. You will not be provided with a weekly score.
