Our RE, RSHE, and Prayer and Liturgy Policies
RHE/PSHE Intent
Our Mission Statement commits us to the education of the whole child (spiritual, physical, intellectual, moral, social, cultural, emotional) and we believe that RHE is an integral part of this education. Our school aims state that we will endeavour to raise pupils’ self-esteem, help them to grow in knowledge and understanding, recognise the value of all persons and develop caring and sensitive attitudes. It is in this context that we commit ourselves in partnership with parents, to provide children and young people with a positive and prudent sexual education which is compatible with their physical, cognitive, psychological, and spiritual maturity, and rooted in a Catholic vision of education and the human person.
At St Teresa’s, we aim to deliver a fully-integrated and holistic programme of RHE and PSHE that truly enables our children to ‘live life to the full’ (John 10:10). Our new scheme – Ten:Ten ‘Life to the Full’ PLUS is an entire platform of creative resources that will engage , inform and inspire children, parents and staff and will cover both the statutory components of the RHE curriciulum, as well as the objectives of the wider PSHE curriculum.
The new curriculum covers many areas and has a strong emphasis on relationships. The focus of this is on teaching the fundamental building blocks and characteristics of positive relationships including: friendships, family relationships and relationships with other children and adults.
RHE/PSHE Implementation
RHE/PHSE Impact
At St Teresa's, our RHE and PSHE curriculum equips children with the knowledge, skills and values they need to thrive both now and in the future. Through our carefully planned programme, pupils develop a strong sense of self-worth, recognising that they are uniquely created and loved by God. They learn how to build positive relationships, show respect for others and make responsible choices that support their wellbeing.
Our pupils demonstrate resilience, confidence and emotional literacy, enabling them to communicate their feelings, manage challenges and seek support when needed. They understand how to keep themselves physically and mentally healthy, stay safe in an increasingly digital world and contribute positively to their communities. Through the Ten:Ten Life to the Full programme, children are encouraged to live out Gospel values, showing compassion, kindness and respect in their daily interactions.
By the time they leave St Teresa's, pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education, having developed the knowledge, understanding and personal skills needed to become responsible, respectful and active members of society who are ready to live life to the full.
