Design and Technology Intent

At St Teresa's, it is our intention for all children:

  • to gain the appropriate subject knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum

  • to learn how to safely use tools

  • to learn to think creatively to solve problems individually and as members of a team

  • to develop and use creativity and imagination

  • to develop a positive mindset and demonstrate resilience when exploring and reviewing their own skills

  • to design and make products for a defined purpose

  • to have opportunities to reflect upon and evaluate past and present design technology

  • to learn about and be inspired by engineers, designers, chefs and architects

  • to create a range of structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food products with a real life purpose
