Bees were superstars singing in Ashford!
Bees have had a great start to year 4!
We have been very busy beginning to learn about the Vikings in British history. We have written a narrative based on a character from our class model text, 'Odd and the Frost Giants' which we thoroughly enjoyed reading-especially all about the Viking Gods and the mischievous Loki. The bees have considered how Viking lives were different to ours now, from Norse mythology, to the roles of men and women and to their longhouse's, we even created 'wattle' and 'daub' to create our own Viking house walls.
We have been looking closely at place value to help us understand numbers up to 4-digits. We have been able to apply this knowledge to help us round to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000 and then add or subtract 4-digit numbers. I was also amazed by how well the bees know their roman numerals!
In DT we have been learning about electrical circuits. We have reviewed the features of a torch and explored how we can make a light bulb circuit with a switch that turns the bulb on and off. It was incredible to see the pure delight when the children's circuits turned the bulb on and off 🙂
We look forward to our learning next term!
