Music Intent

At St. Teresa's, we aim for every child to have access to high-quality practical, and engaging musical experiences through its resources.

We want all children to develop self-confidence, skills, knowledge and understanding to develop a lifelong love of music with a strong foundation to take it further should they wish to. We aim to model to the children an enjoyment of music in music lessons to ensure children enjoy taking part in them. With the aid of 'Sing Up', our music scheme, we aim to ensure teachers and pupils grow a strong subject knowledge in Music. Children will learn a range of musical knowledge, terms and skills. They will be exposed to a range of instruments while mastering the Glockenspiel as they move through the school with a more in-depth focus of this in KS2 where they will play it for a whole term.  We want all our children to be given an opportunity to showcase their learning in a ‘Music Showcase’ once a term.
