Mission Statement, Values and Virtues
Our Mission Statement
The Light of Christ guides us as we live out our school values and virtues, to grow as a community of learners rooted in God’s endearing love.
This statement was developed by children, staff and governors.
Our Values
Values are individual beliefs that motivate people to act one way or another. They serve as a guide for human behaviour.
Our staff team have been working extremely hard to identify the core values that underpin life at St. Teresa's. These are values that members of our family show regularly that reflect our Catholicity and sense of community, from day-to-day choices & behaviour, right through to our policies.
After careful consideration, the following 5 values have been selected and shared with our children:
- Love
- Respect
- Kindness
- Forgiveness
- Honesty
These values are displayed within the school as reminders and all adults are on the look out for children to be modelling these. It has been wonderful to see excellent examples of these already.
Our Virtues
The word “virtue” is used as a synonym for goodness, but the Church uses the term in a much more precise way.
Virtues are special graces given by God to the soul for the accomplishment of particular objectives. Think about virtues as your convictions; how you demonstrate your values through your actions.
All children will discuss the meanings of our values and virtues; during collective worship and Masses, as well as in RE lessons. We take time to consider and reflect upon them. We will use reflection times quietly and peacefully together, so that children can listen carefully and try to hear the inner callings of their hearts.
