RHE and PSHE
RHE/PSHE Intent
Our Mission Statement commits us to the education of the whole child (spiritual, physical, intellectual, moral, social, cultural, emotional) and we believe that RHE is an integral part of this education. Our school aims state that we will endeavour to raise pupils’ self-esteem, help them to grow in knowledge and understanding, recognise the value of all persons and develop caring and sensitive attitudes. It is in this context that we commit ourselves in partnership with parents, to provide children and young people with a positive and prudent sexual education which is compatible with their physical, cognitive, psychological, and spiritual maturity, and rooted in a Catholic vision of education and the human person.
At St Teresa’s, we aim to deliver a fully-integrated and holistic programme of RHE and PSHE that truly enables our children to ‘live life to the full’ (John 10:10). Our new scheme – Ten:Ten ‘Life to the Full’ PLUS is an entire platform of creative resources that will engage , inform and inspire children, parents and staff and will cover both the statutory components of the RHE curriciulum, as well as the objectives of the wider PSHE curriculum.
The new curriculum covers many areas and has a strong emphasis on relationships. The focus of this is on teaching the fundamental building blocks and characteristics of positive relationships including: friendships, family relationships and relationships with other children and adults.
