Term 2
The Fireflies have had a brilliant term and have been working hard across the curriculum - well done Fireflies!
In Science, we have been learning about the importance of nutrition and maintaining a healthy diet. We've explored different food groups and how they help our bodies stay strong and energized. We’ve also discussed the issue of food waste and ways to reduce it, like planning meals carefully and using leftovers creatively.
In Maths, we have been developing our skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We’ve been working on adding and subtracting numbers up to 1,000, including solving problems with carrying and exchanging. We’ve also been learning how to multiply and divide numbers, focusing on times tables and dividing into equal groups.
In English, we have been looking at descriptive writing in stories and as well as writing instructions. The children wrote excellent stories based on 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' and wrote very clear instruction on how make their own exciting potions.
The Fireflies had a great DT day. They made careful design choices when creating their own boxes for Christmas presents to go in. I was really impressed with their ability to adapt their designs as they went along. The final products were incredible and the children were very proud of their work.
We hope they all enjoy their well-deserved rest over Christmas!
